Abstract
⺠The strain CPA-6 was isolated from minimally processed 'Golden Delicious' apple. ⺠It reduced E. coli O157:H7, Salmonella and L. innocua populations on fresh-cut apples and peaches. ⺠The lowest effective dose was 106 cfu mLâ1 at both 5 and 20 °C and it seems not to be phytopathogenic. ⺠It was identified as new species belonging to Enterobacteriaceae. ⺠CPA-6 could be a suitable microorganism to control foodborne pathogens on fresh-cut fruit.
