The similarity of galactomannan in seeds and endocarp of pods during development in Senna macranthera var. nervosa

► Growth and carbohydrates of Senna macranthera during fruit development were examined. ► Galactomannan (GM) stored in the seeds was found for the first time in the pods. ► Pod and seed GM bear the same mannose:galactose ratio during development. ► We suggest that pod GM could provide protection and humidity for developing seeds.
