Abstract
► A new genus, Dracoscirpoides, is described to accommodate two southern Africa Cyperaceae species. ► These species were previously included in Scirpus L. based on shared presence of perianth bristles. ► Phylogenetic and embryological data confirms these two species to be part of the Ficinia clade in Cypereae. ► A third species, D. surculosa, is described in the genus.
