Abstract
⺠A new genus, Dracoscirpoides, is described to accommodate two southern Africa Cyperaceae species. ⺠These species were previously included in Scirpus L. based on shared presence of perianth bristles. ⺠Phylogenetic and embryological data confirms these two species to be part of the Ficinia clade in Cypereae. ⺠A third species, D. surculosa, is described in the genus.
