► A new species of Combretum from the Tugela Valley in KwaZulu-Natal is described: Combretum stylesii. ► Morphology and molecular data suggest a close relationship of Combretum stylesii is with C. edwardsii. ► A key to section Ciliatipetala in the Flora of southern Africa is provided.
