Abstract
After a study of extensive herbarium material, collected in 20 localities in the coastal areas of China, it appears that the genus Ruppia is represented by three morphologically very distinct species, Ruppia brevipedunculata n. sp., Ruppia sinensis n. sp., and Ruppia megacarpa Mason. The identification of the last species is only provisional, because of the lack of sufficient reproductive specimens.
