Abstract
⺠We estimated observer error for identification of shark species in a north Australian shark fishery. ⺠The species under consideration had the greatest influence on identification error. ⺠Male sharks were less likely to be mis-identified than females. ⺠Some errors in species identification were independent of observer experience.
