Abstract

This survey is conducted to study diets and some feeding indices of dominant and commercial Juvenile fishes in Khuzestan coastal waters. The stomach contents of 150 Cynoglossus arel and 128 Solea elongata individuals were analyzed and captured by shrimp trawl net every month in main fishing areas of Khuzestan province from March 2006 to December 2007. The results of vacuity index showed random monthly fluctuations in the values with the highest value in October and the lowest in March and April; the results of Feeding Intensity index showed the highest value in March and the lowest in October for juvenile Cynoglossus arel. For juvenile Solea elongate the results of vacuity index showed that the highest value is in October and the lowest is in March and April also the results of Feeding Intensity index showed that the highest value is in March and the lowest is in June. The values of prey occurrence index and Numerical diet composition index showed in Diverse Months that Amphipods, Crustacean, Bivalves, and Copepods are the main food sources for Juvenile Cynoglossus arel and Solea elongate and the most percent Numerical diet composition. The values of Relative Importance Index showed that in Diverse Months diets including Amphipods, Crustaceans, Bivalves and Copepods are of highest importance.
