Abstract
⺠Responses of Salix nigra to flooding heterogeneity was evaluated using split-root rhizotrons. ⺠Keeping some roots drained elevated soil Eh in flooded portions. ⺠Root growth and complexity was increased by flooding. ⺠Fractal geometry is a sensitive indicator of soil saturation.
