Abstract
► Sugars, organic acids, vitamin C, individual phenolics and total polyphenolics were determined in 23 black currant cultivars. ► Different susceptibility to black currant leaf spot (Drepanopeziza ribis) and septoria leaf spot (Septoria ribis). ► Susceptible cultivars contained lower levels of total analyzed sugars. ► High levels of hydroxycinnamic acids, epicatechin, and myricetin, kaempferol and quercetin glycosides were detected in cultivars resistant to leaf spot diseases.
