Abstract
⺠Cucumbers expressing thaumatin II gene and non-transgenic counterpart field-tested. ⺠Growth, development and yield potential of 4 lines of 3 subsequent generations examined. ⺠Plant performance of 3 lines not limited by presence of thaumatin II gene. ⺠Thaumatin II protein accumulation progresses with fruit maturity. ⺠Total yield is more strongly affected by precipitation than air temperature.
