Abstract
⺠Genetic characterization of Listada de GandÃa eggplant landrace may be useful for its enhancement and protection. ⺠Genomic SSRs have had a higher polymorphism than EST-SSRs. ⺠Listada de GandÃa is genetically diverse and differentiated from other materials. ⺠Two SSR alleles from different loci have been found to be specific and universal to all Listada de GandÃa accessions. ⺠The results support the recognition of Listada de GandÃa with a Protected Designation of Origin status.
