Abstract
⺠We model the environmental Kuznets curve using UK data for CO2 and SO2. ⺠Non-linear threshold cointegration and error correction techniques are used. ⺠The results suggest that disequilibrium in emissions is corrected asymmetrically. ⺠We find support for the inverse-U shaped relationship between emissions and GDP. ⺠Technological change also has a significant effect on emissions.
