Abstract
⺠Both 'western' and 'indigenous' knowledge is required to solve environmental problems. ⺠Ecological economists need to resist knowledge 'imperialism' and 'integration'. ⺠Methodological pluralism needs to be extended to work across disciplines and cultures. ⺠Neither 'indigenous' nor 'western' knowledge systems are homogenous. ⺠Insights are offered for engaging with indigenous peoples in environmental research.
