Abstract
► The effect of correcting for the endogeneity in contingent valuation studies is investigated. ► Focus is on a variable indicating membership status in environmental organizations. ► Jointly modeling membership and willingness to pay yields negative estimate of membership effect. ► Our results contradict previous findings but agree with theoretical expectations.
