Abstract
A layered perovskite PrBa(Fe0.8Sc0.2)2O5+δ (PBFSc) is applied as both cathode and anode in the symmetrical solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) field and its electrochemical properties are investigated. La0.9Sr0.1Ga0.8Mg0.2O3-δ (LSGM) supported symmetrical cell with PBFSc electrode exhibits polarization resistances of 0.05 Ω cm2 in air and 0.18 Ω cm2 in wet H2 at 800 °C. A maximum power density of 921 mW cmâ2 is obtained using wet H2 as the fuel and ambient air as the oxidant at 850 °C. Moreover, the electrode demonstrates good redox stability in both oxidizing and reducing atmospheres. The layered perovskite PBFSc with favorable performance characteristics is shown to be an effective, redox-stable electrode candidate that can be used for both cathode and anode.
