Abstract

This paper proposes an active linearization technique known as Active-Post-Distortion (APD) necessary for high bandwidth applications. The linearization technique is applied to a dual-band cascode Common-Gate (CG) low noise amplifier (LNA) operating in two upper bands of mobile WiMAX. The low frequency cancelation is expressed in power series format and the high frequency analysis using voltera-series explains the effect of tuning load parameters on IIP3. Also voltera-series extract extrema points for tuning load parametric of inductance, capacitance and effective transconductance. In frequency band of 3.5 GHz, the LNA attains a noise figure (NF) of less than 3.9 dB, input reverse isolation (S11) of less than −15.7 dB, input referred third-order intercept point (IIP3) of more than −1.4 dBm and power gain of more than 13.2 dB. Also the LNA shows a NF of less than 4.2 dB, S11 of less than −13.2 dB, IIP3 of more than −5.6 dBm and power gain of more than 11 dB in 5.8 GHz of highest frequency band of mobile WiMAX. The results are presented according to a 0.13μm standard CMOS. Using a 1.2 V power supply it dissipates 9.36 mW.
