Abstract
- This was the first phylogenetic analysis of the HBV in Recife, Brazil.
- In this study, the majority of patients presented the A1 subgenotype from the same viral strain.
- According the phylogenetic tree, this subgenotype was in the genetic make-up of Africans.
- Africans individuals brought the HBV in centuries past to Brazil as slaves.
