Abstract
- We performed a comprehensive codon usage analysis of 449 West Nile virus strains.
- The overall codon usage among West Nile virus strains is only slightly biased.
- Codon adaptation index values obtained for West Nile virus genes are different from the ones obtained for human genes.
- These differences seem to be due to codon preferences in their codon usage.
- Codon usage in West Nile virus is influenced by the relative dinucleotide frequencies.
