► Wigglesworthia glossinidia and Sodalis glossinidius are two Glossina symbionts. ► Primary and secondary symbionts are colony fly's permanent inhabitants. ► Symbionts density vary along the fly live span. ► The Wigglesworthia population is always higher than that of Sodalis. ► Their role (fly reproduction/vector competence) makes them targets to fight HAT.
