Abstract
⺠NINJURIN1 provides substrates for repair of Schwann cells after nerve injury. ⺠The NINJ1 gene plays an important role in nerve regeneration. ⺠The polymorphism in this gene is related to nerve damage in leprosy patients. ⺠Ninjurin asp110ala could be a valuable prognostic marker. ⺠The C allele (ala110) has increased susceptibility to nerve damage.
