Abstract
⺠Worldwide HIV-1 subtype F1 epidemics resulted from single founder events. ⺠All founder events probably occurred between the late 1970s and the early 1980s. ⺠Viral phylodynamics in adult populations from different countries was similar. ⺠Viral growth rate in Romanian children was much higher than in adult populations.
