Abstract
► We developed a real-time PCR assay for fTHTR1 (feline thiamine transport protein 1). ► Expression of fTHTR1, the receptor for FeLV A, was detectable in all tissues tested. ► Particularly high fTHTR1 levels were found at sites of virus entry and shedding. ► Detection of significant fTHTR1 differences relied on suitable normalization. ► Differences in FeLV susceptibility were not ascribable to fTHTR1 gene variations.
