Abstract
⺠In this paper we design specific primers for Trypanosoma lewisi in highly specific region of the ITS1 of ribosomal DNA. ⺠The sensitivity allows to detect the equivalent of 1-10 organisms par reaction. ⺠Parasites of various origins in Thailand, Cambodia, Lao and China are all detected. ⺠Absence of cross reaction with other parasites and hosts allows using these primers for screening infection in rodents and human populations.
