Abstract
- The phylogeny of katydids (Orthoptera: Tettigoniidae) was inferred using 6 molecular markers.
- Five subfamilies were paraphyletic under various reconstruction methods.
- Seven subfamilies were found to be monophyletic.
- The thoracic auditory spiracle, a diagnostic character for Pseudophyllinae, is homoplasious.
- Leaf-like wings have been derived independently in at least six lineages with secondary losses in at least four lineages.
