Abstract
► Comparative phylogeny and evolution of porcine parvoviruses in Suidae were studied. ► High rate of evolution similar to those commonly measured for RNA viruses was found. ► PPVs of wild boars proved to be more diverse than viruses of domestic pigs. ► Novel PPVs has a relatively recent evolutionary history diverged in the last 70 years. ► Recombination, positive selection, host switching and gene flow are important driving forces of the PPVs evolution.
