Abstract
⺠A mitochondrial genome phylogeny of termites resolves relationships with high nodal support. ⺠Base compositional heterogeneity between termites and roaches necessitates removal of third codon positions for accuracy. ⺠One molecular synapomorphy, an AT-region stem-loop, supports Polyphagidae as sister-group to termites + Cryptocercus. ⺠A second molecular synapomoprhy, AT-region macrorepeats, supports Heterotermitinae + Termitidae.
