Abstract
⺠A deep split between Thylacomyidae, Chaeropodidae and remaining living bandicoots is confirmed. ⺠New Guinean forest bandicoots are sister to the dry-country adapted Australian genera. ⺠The recently extinct Seram bandicoot is sister to Echymipera. ⺠Molecular clock estimates place origin of living bandicoots in the late Oligocene-early Miocene.
