Abstract
⺠Coalescent methods delimited species and estimated speciation process in Lampropeltis pyromelana. ⺠Two species were detected that likely originated prior to the Pleistocene. ⺠Allopatric speciation with little or no gene flow was the mode of diversification. ⺠Populations were fairly stable throughout the Pleistocene.
