Abstract
► Nanhaipotamon is monophyletic with four clades agreeing with the East Asian topography. ► The genus originated between Wuyishan and Nanling Ranges with cladogenesis ∼4.8 mya. ► The invasion of the genus into Taiwan during the Pleistocene interglaciation period. ► The Penghu Nanhaipotamon formosanum population is a relict of the past Pleistocene glaciations.
