Abstract
⺠Phyllodesmium is a monophyletic group. ⺠Symbiotic species and non-symbiotic species evolved separately. ⺠Xeniid-associated species represent a trophically-driven adaptive radiation. ⺠There may have been a reversal from a symbiotic to a non-symbiotic state.
