Abstract
⺠Morphologically variable and widely distributed B. simaruba is a single valid species. ⺠Satellites resemble B. simaruba due to evolutionary convergence or parallelism. ⺠Molecular phylogeny of the complex highlights potential synonymy and new species. ⺠Molecular phylogeny points out morphological characters in need of revision. ⺠Ecological characters allow differentiation between satellite species.
