Abstract
⺠It is thought that the diapause pupal color of Byasa alcinous consists of a monochromatic color of light-brown. ⺠We examined the effect of temperature and humidity on the diapause pupal color of B. alcinous. ⺠A diapause pupal color comprising yellow (or brown) types was induced by high (or low) temperature and high (or low) humidity as environmental cues. ⺠Diapause pupae of B. alcinous exhibit pupal color diphenism involving brown and yellow types, and not a monochromatic color.
