Abstract
⺠The removal of the pars intercerebralis in Periplaneta americana induced hyperphagy, upregulationg the CCAP-ir in the epithelium but not in the muscle layer. ⺠It also upregulated allatostatin-ir in the epithelial paraneurons and muscle layer. ⺠These reactivities were colocalized in the same epithelial paraneurons but unique reactivities are also present. ⺠The PIX also upregulated digestive enzyme activities. ⺠PI is thus an inhibitory center of feeding in this cockroach.
