Abstract
⺠Pea aphids have three haemocyte types: prohaemocytes, granulocytes and oenocytoids. ⺠Prohaemocyte numbers increase immediately after an immune challenge. ⺠Pea aphids exhibit melanotic but not cellular encapsulation response. ⺠Pea aphids can phagocytose both Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria.
