Abstract
- A method is presented to quantify impacts of hypoxia on benthic species as an Effect Factor (EF).
- The approach models the sensitivity of individual species into a community's HC50-based indicator.
- The EF metric is volume-integrated fraction of potentially affected species as a function of O2 depletion.
- The EF is an indicator of the potential marine eutrophication impacts caused by oxygen depletion.
- EFs are estimated for coastal waters in 5 climate zones for comparative assessments of such impacts.
