Abstract
⺠We aim to explore the role of sustainability indicators for local governance for sustainability. ⺠We propose a conceptual framework based on normative factors of good governance. ⺠The framework is applied to a Portuguese case study: the municipality of Palmela. ⺠Provides insights on if, how and why indicators steer governance for sustainability in this municipality.
