Abstract
► The indicators used in environmental statements by Italian PAs are analysed. ► We discuss the relevance of the indicators to support the benchmarking process. ► The survey highlights both a lack of relevance of the indicators to the theme and a lack of relevance of the themes analysed. ► These deficiencies are especially consistent in the case of indirect environmental aspects.
