Abstract
⺠Assortative mating is an important factor in the process of speciation. ⺠Assortative mating lowers fitness in small and inbred populations. ⺠Many models of speciation frequently deal with small founder populations. ⺠Inbreeding must be considered in models of speciation based on assortative mating.
