Abstract
- A novel density dependence based on the benefit balance of storage and investment (defined as the compound interest law) was first derived.
- Our model can not only be used to reunify the three classic models but can also support different levels of density dependence in the seed bank dynamics of annual plants.
- We determined why the compound interest law is to be preferred to the power laws, and why a single seed approach gives better results than a soil seed bank approach.
