Abstract
⺠We present an approach to model individual-tree competition at landscape scales. ⺠Our model integrates competition for and physiological utilization of resources. ⺠Simulated productivity and mortality match a wide range of observations well. ⺠The new model is able to simulate plantations as well as complex old-growth forests. ⺠Computing time increases only linearly with landscape extent.
