Abstract
⺠Ice-free areas were dominated by bacterial phyla found in most soils, including agricultural ones. ⺠Soil pH, rather than plant cover determine bacterial diversity in ice-free areas of Antarctica. ⺠Plant diversity is not the best predictor of soil microbial patterns.
