Abstract
⺠We studied the effect of bacterial inoculation on maize growth under saline stress. ⺠Bacteria tested, namely C5 and C9, belong to Azotobacter chroococcum. ⺠A. chroococcum strains were not affected by salinity. ⺠C5 and C9 were able to increase plant growth and photosynthetic pigments content. ⺠C5 and C9 improved K+/Na+ ratio, increased polyphenol content, and further decreased proline concentration.
