Abstract
⺠Restoration efforts must incorporate soil ecology and microbial processes. ⺠Grassland ecosystems are among the most severely disturbed landscapes. ⺠Post-mine sites typically have poor physical, chemical and biological properties. ⺠Site restoration ultimately requires soil manipulations. ⺠We suggest the use of soil amendments including compost, biochar and fungi.
