Abstract
⺠We hypothesize that the release of coyotes from wolf suppression is affecting faunal communities. ⺠We document various cases of coyote predation on or killing of species of conservation concern. ⺠The apparent decline of leporids might be linked to increased coyote predation. ⺠We make recommendations for ecological research on wolves, coyotes, and communities. ⺠We suggest more studies on alternatives to the killing coyotes such as reducing food subsidies.
