Abstract
⺠The effects of habitat fragmentation on temporal dispersal are directly quantified. ⺠Seed banks contain large numbers of grassland species of conservation interest. ⺠Seed banks store more diversity than the vegetation on remnant grassland fragments. ⺠Temporal dispersal spatially buffers local species losses at the landscape scale. ⺠The storage effect may support future conservation and restoration efforts.
