Abstract
⺠We examined the relationship between forest fragmentation, fire and management. ⺠We analyzed edge-related fires both inside and outside protected areas and indigenous reserves. ⺠Increasing fragmentation increases fire occurrence and intensity. ⺠Different types of management influence fire occurrence and intensity. ⺠Fire as a large-scale edge effect occurs independent of the management type.
