Abstract
► We take a novel landscape approach to examine the effect of fire mosaics on birds. ► We highlight the relative value to birds of four fire management strategies. ► Fire-sensitive species benefit from the promotion of particular fire age-classes at the landscape scale. ► Burning a fixed percentage of the landscape annually can negatively affect bird species. ► Landscape-scale, species-specific knowledge can refine fire management strategies.
