Abstract
► Wild bee visitation of cherry flowers is positively related to cherry yield. ► Honeybee visitation is not related to cherry yield, although honeybees are twice as abundant in cherry trees. ► High-diversity bee habitats in the surrounding landscape enhance wild bee visitation. ► An increase of high-diversity bee habitats in the landscape from 20% to 50% increases cherry fruit set by 150%. ► The conservation of high-diversity bee habitats enhances gratis ecosystem services, and thereby, the farmers' yield.
