Using species distribution modeling to improve conservation and land use planning of Yunnan, China

► We modeled the spatial distribution of 1996 species of Yunnan. ► We identified three diversity hotspots and seven major floristic regions. ► We developed a conservation network that would protect most species. ► The current protected forest network was shown to be ineffective for conservation. ► Based on the land use map the proposed conservation network can still be realized.
