Abstract
⺠Molecular and phenotypic data are rarely combined to verify subspecies classification. ⺠Island and mainland birds show genetic and morphological divergence across subspecies. ⺠Both subspecies show evolutionary divergence without phylogenetic independence. ⺠Subspecies classification and independent conservation management is warranted.
